FIRST DRAFT: (ROUGH CUT)

Here is the rough cut of the thriller movie opening, hope you enjoy it and make some comments upon what can be improved, so appropriate changes can be made.

DESIGN/MAKING: TITLE SEQUENCE

Hello everyone!
I'm going to discuss the use and ideas behind the title sequences of our thriller opening. The title of the thriller is 'Blood Thirst' hence the reason why in our opening titles we used red colored font due the the colour red being associated with blood (connotation). The font colour can also be associated with killing and evil presence, which matches the genre of the film opening as a thriller mystery.  The font style was used considering its relation to human style handwriting and as it's in the colour red it could be inferred that a killer could be writing the titles with their victims blood. Below are some examples of the red font in use.

For the main film title has a black background, to represent the darkness in the heart of the killer and the white font represents the purity and vulnerability of the rest of the world. We chose the certain font as it felt to be the most dynamic and vicious, which easily describes the nature of the two killers working together.

DESIGN MAKING/ IDENT

Hello everyone!

Our new thriller film that we plan on releasing Monday 30th March, 'Blood Thirst', has been under intense production by our production team from our opening sequence to the final scene. Below are some pictures of the production company we are in association with, Castillo (The Portuguese Surname) Studios. We used that name as it's the surname of the main character. We decided to use the software provided on the website www.flixpress.com to create the ident as it was free, fast, and
gave excellent results.

TITLES

When it comes to filming a movie, you have to make sure that you include a title sequence, this is where films or television programs present the title, key production and cast members.
The first title which gets introduce is the production company, the main production companies come from the US but we also get production companies from the UK also.

Here are some examples of the US and UK Production Companies:

US

  • Dreamworks
Founded in October 12 1994

  • Paramount
Founded in May 8 1912

  • Lions Gate
Founded in July 3 1997

  • Metro Goldwyn Mayer
Founded in April 17 1924

  • Columbia
Founded in January 10 1924

UK

  • Working Title
Founded in 1983

  • Warp
Founded by Rob Mitchell

  • Revolution

When it comes to the filming sequence you have to make sure that they are put in the right order when introducing the productions, cast etc. these all come before the opening sequence.
The order goes:
  1. Production Company Presents
  2. A Film By - (Director)
  3. Starring (2 Main Characters)
  4. Title of Film
  5. Other Co- Stars
  6. Costumes, Music, Production, Design, Editing and Cinematography
  7. Producer
  8. Director
  9. Title of Film
These are proven in the Thriller films Seven, Panic Room, Dexter

Seven:

As you can see in the movie Seven, it first starts by presenting the production, then it goes onto saying who the film was by, introduction of the actors. Then we get the title of the film, the other co stars, the person in charge of music, costumes and editing. Then we see the person who was in charge of directing the movie. The movie then begins.

Panic Room:

When it comes to the movie Panic Room, it first starts off with presenting the production of the company, then it goes onto introducing the main characters of the movie, then it introduces the title of the movie. It goes onto the Co- Stars of the movie, introducing the people in charge of casting, costumes, music and the ilm editors, production designers. Then it begins to introduce the directors of the movie and producers and who it was written by and lastly who it was directed by again.

Dexter:

When it comes to the TV program Dexter it begins with presenting the production company, then it shows the title of the movie. Then it introduces the main characters of the movie. Then it introduces the producers of the program the movie then begins. This is different to the movies above because its a TV program.

So when it comes to the title of the film, you can chose which font type you want to use, so for example for a thriller you can use:

to make it seem like a scary thriller.
You can also focus on the colour of the font and the size.
