HIDDEN
The film is about a couple walking home from an outing that they had attended, they were walking for quite a while and then he hugged her and she left him then went indoors. Then we see a man all blacked out walking towards the man and he stabbed him unexpectedly. Then the girl looked through the window and saw that her boyfriend was dead then the screen blacked out and we heard her scream.
Camera
Firstly they had started with a medium shot of them walking, which makes the film seem like they are in a calm environment and everything going well. We then get a shot/reverse shot of them having a conversation together dispatching from each other. Then we get another medium shot of them hugging making the audience feel calm and humble cause it just looks like they have just come back from a date. Then we cut and we get a long shot of the man in a hoody, making him look very intimating and a trouble maker. And we also get a close up of him bringing out the gun, but we dont actually see the young man being stabbed but, we get a close up shot of the young man with blood all over his face and his clothes.
Editing
When it comes to editing they first start off with introducing the production they had used to make the film go ahead, making the film see more professional. Whilst the movie is also going on the were also introduce the people who were involved in the film. Also the pace of the film at the beginning started off slow, showing that everything was calm. But when the incident occurred the tempo of the film the began to increase and the cuts were more shorter.
Sound
There wasn't that much diegetic and non diegetic sound used within this film. The only diegetic sound which happened was when they were having dialogue which made the mood setting of the scene seem calm and humble.
THE CATALYST
The Catalyst is a thriller film about a man who goes around murdering different people. We don't know where this man had come from or why he was going around killing these people. They also used different kind of camera shots and editing techniques.
Editing
When it came to the editing of the film they in began with an introduction of the company that produced the film, and they also added a background music to make the title stand out more. And then they stated to input the people starring in the film and also the people who were editing and directing the film. This is good because then the audience will know hat each persons role was in the film. And also the background music in the film is good because it creates a sort of tense atmosphere leaving the audience on the edge of their seats. Then when we move onto the Editing when they introduce the production they used when making the film, this makes the movie come across as more professional. Then we get a Match on Action shot of him walking through the door, this shot gets used twice showing that he has broken into the house creating a sense of suspense. The Match on Action get used frequently in this film. Next they edit on a image showing that hes about to get the perfect aim of the person he is about to shoot, this shows to the audience that this man is a murder because he shoots and kills the man instantly.
Camera
When we are talking about the camera shot, we firstly begin with the young man using the key to open the front door, This is to show to the audience that he is breaking into the house, which leaves the audience in suspense and wondering if there is someone in the house or not. Then e get the Match on Action shot of the young man walking through the door, and also when he is walking up the stairs, we got to see the front of him instead of being able to see the back of him. The we get to see a extreme close up of the angle of where he is going to shoot the gun. You could say that this was edited on because we could see the people who he was about to shoot, this is really good because it creates a dramatic moment. Lastly we get an eyeline match of when he was strangling when the murder was looking straight forward, then they cut to show where he was looking at.
Sound
Next we have sound, in this film there was a lot of non-diegetic sound being used at different moments, it was either used to create a sense of suspense or it was used to go along with what was happening in at that precise moment. So for example when the young man was breaking into the house they used a backing music to create suspense of what was happening. This is to make the audience know that something bad was also about to happen. Then we get the diegetic sound of the bullet going off creating tension in the movie. And lastly towards the end when the murder was walking off he also got a backing track to show how dominant he is after killing all those people.

HUNTER
The hunter is a thriller about a detective who is looking for the person who has been murdering people. They used different camera shots and editing techniques to make their thriller good.
Editing
So for example when it came to editing, right at the begin the introduce their production with a sort of background music. This is good because the Sound is very loud so it would be able to grab the audiences attention by creating a sort of adrenaline. They also had headings throughout the thriller, which was stating the people who were involved with the film.
Sound
And when it came to the Sound in their thriller they had included non-diegetic sound and diegetic sound. The non- diegetic sound was the background music that was played throughout the whole thriller. This non-diegetic sound was very effective when it came to their thriller because the background music was intense and created a suspicious effect to the thriller. Making the audience feel that this movie is serious. Then when it came to the diegetic sound, it was when we heard the the connection of the baseball bat on the young mans head. This created a thriller effect because, it was a shock to the audience because they would have never known that, that was about to happen.
Camera
There were loads of different camera shot use in this thriller which is very good because it creates a sort of intense environment. Throughout the thriller they had used a steady cam so we could see the footsteps the detective was going in and it also helps the audience engage with the detective and helping to find this murder. At the beginning they used a long shot to show the place that he was located at. Then there was a bit of Shot/Reverse Shot and over the shoulder shot when they were having a conversation, this is to show how deep the conversation between them was going. Then lastly there was the jump cut, this is when the young detective had been hit over the head by a baseball bat, it shows that everything had blacked out and he was unconscious.
Mise En Scene
And lastly in the Mise En Scene it was set in school, like a kind of MI5 movie. Using the school is a good scenery because schools are usually big which means that there is more room for them to shoot there scene but also it will be more difficult for them to be able to find the murder because the school is so big,

MISE EN SCENE
Mise-en-scene is a French term meaning "in
the scene or frame".
The elements of the Mise en scene are;
1. Settings and Props this is
where the media will take place.
2. Costume, hair and make up
3. Facial expressions and body
language this is where we all communicate through.
4. Lighting and Colour
5. Positioning of characters
and objects in the frame. The positioning of objects and characters are very
important.
The positioning of objects and characters can be in the foreground and, middle ground and background. This can emphasise the relative importance of a character.
Denotation and
Connotation
Denotation is the literal description of an idea, concept or
object
Connotation is what we associate with a particular idea,
concept or object.
·
This is because colour works on the subconscious
mind to create a type of mood, which is occurring at that moment.
The setting is where the media text takes place, and the
props are objects that we see in the setting.
When it comes to Facial expressions and Body language, this is where most actors communicate through. This can be particularly important in media text especially when it comes to close ups and extreme close ups.
Positioning of objects and characters are also very
important. Objects and characters can be in the foreground, middle ground or
background. This could be to emphasize the relativeness or importance of either
the object or the character, which is why characters are positioned.
And also there is deep focus, which enables the audience to
chose where to look. Both the background and the foreground are in focus.

COLOUR
The first use of colour was used in films such as Voyage a Travers L'impossible by the pioneer George Melies in 1904. In this short film it was hand painted frame by frame, this film was best known for the amount of detail that was used.
The next development was the introduction of the Two-Strip Technicolor. This is where in films the would only use the colours red and green. In the film The Mystery of the Wax Museum(1935), you can tell the main colours that were used were Red and Green, there wasn't loads of different colours used like now and days.
Then there was the first full strip technicolor was used in films such as Becky Sharp (1935). This film contained a lot more colours and more detail. Which made the detail of the film much more different compared to the amount of colours used in the The Mystery of the Wax Museum.
From the 1930s to the 1940s black and white colours represented the reality of a scene, but when there was colour it represented a fantasy and a spectacle. This was especially shown in the film the Wizard of Oz. At first she was in the real life world, where it was all black and white and grey and boring, but then after the tornado was over she opened the door and all you could see was colour. However the colour didn't look really realistic, it kind of looked like plastic in a way because it was all shiny and precise.
Also when it come to colour there is something called Denotation and there is something called Connotation.

- Denotation is the literal description of an idea, concept or object. So for example instead of seeing a chair, the chair would be described.
- Connotation is what we associate with a particular idea, concept or object. So for example you could see a chair somewhere and, you remember that, that same chair is also elsewhere so its the same as the chairs in school.
- Colour works on a subconscious mind, to create a mood. So for example if you were in a room and the colour in the room was Red, then you would think that maybe the room is warm or there is a sense of romance in the room.

EVALUATION PRELIMINARY TASK 2
Our preliminary task, was about a young man who saw a poster up against the wall, and it was about a interview for JD. So he decided to go to the interview and he was asked a few normal interview questions. And he was trying to be quite flirtatious with her in a kind of funny way. In my group there was Abi Raji who played the interviewer and Taju Deen who played the interviewee.
We made sure that we included all of the editing techniques this was the match on action, the eyeline match, shot/ reverse shot and the 180 degree rule.
We made sure that we used the Match on Action, this is known when Taju walked through the door and we could see him appearing on the other side of the door. This is a Match on Action shot because we can clearly see Taju opening the door then when he walked through the door we could see his face instead of seeing the back of him. Then the eyeline match is when Taju was looking at the poster because he looked directly at the poster and then we zoomed into the poster so that the audience were able to see it. And lastly the shot/reverse shot is when Taju and Abi are having a conversation, so we can see the back of Abi's head when Taju is talking and we can see the back of Taju's head when Abi was talking. And when this conversation as going on we made sure that we kept with the 180 degree rule.
I think that the film we made was really good, we made sure that we followed all the editing techniques. This means that we have met our preliminary task, especially when it came to following the 180 degree rule, we made sure that we never broke this or else this will change the whole angle of the film/.And we made sure that the speech was clear enough for everyone to understand not only what they were saying but also what was going on in the actual film. I think the process of the film went very well and I am happy with the outcome of the film we made.
To make this film more better I probably would have added a graphic match shot, this is where we are focused on something and then it changes into something in the shape of the previous image. So for example when Taju was looking at the poster, we then could have done a graphic match and then changed it into the door he was walking through or something along those lines.
