THE CATALYST

 The Catalyst is a thriller film about a man who goes around murdering different people. We don't know where this man had come from or why he was going around killing these people. They also used different kind of camera shots and editing techniques.
Editing
When it came to the editing of the film they in began with an introduction of the company that produced the film, and they also added a background music to make the title stand out more. And then they stated to input the people starring in the film and also the people who were editing and directing the film. This is good because then the audience will know hat each persons role was in the film. And also the background music in the film is good because it creates a sort of tense atmosphere leaving the audience on the edge of their seats.Then when we move onto the Editing when they introduce the production they used when making the film, this makes the movie come across as more professional.  Then we get a Match on Action shot of him walking through the door, this shot gets used twice showing that he has broken into the house creating a sense of suspense. The Match on Action get used frequently in this film. Next they edit on a image showing that hes about to get the perfect aim of the person he is about to shoot, this shows to the audience that this man is a murder because he shoots and kills the man instantly.
Camera
When we are talking about the camera shot, we firstly begin with the young man using the key to open the front door, This is to show to the audience that he is breaking into the house, which leaves the audience in suspense and wondering if there is someone in the house or not. Then e get the Match on Action shot of the young man walking through the door, and also when he is walking up the stairs, we got to see the front of him instead of being able to see the back of him. The we get to see a extreme close up of the angle of where he is going to shoot the gun. You could say that this was edited on because we could see the people who he was about to shoot, this is really good because it creates a dramatic moment. Lastly we get an eyeline match of when he was strangling when the murder was looking straight forward, then they cut to show where he was looking at.
Sound
Next we have sound, in this film there was a lot of non-diegetic sound being used at different moments, it was either used to create a sense of suspense or it was used to go along with what was happening in at that precise moment. So for example when the young man was breaking into the house they used a backing music to create suspense of what was happening. This is to make the audience know that something bad was also about to happen. Then we get the diegetic sound of the bullet going off  creating tension in the movie. And lastly towards the end when the murder was walking off he also got a backing track to show how dominant he is after killing all those people.
